Landscape

The watershed is characterized by gently rolling uplands incised by steep-sided valleys. Soils are thin and poorly developed on top of thick deposits of glacial till which cover most of the plateau. Fishtrap Creek is located in the rain-shadow of the coastal mountains resulting in a semi-arid climate. The hydrograph is snow melt dominated. Vegetation at high elevations is composed of primarily lodgepole pine, supalpine fir and white spruce. Douglas fir, ponderosa pine and trembling aspen are found at lower elevations.
