Landscape

The Lac Clair watershed is lcoated 50 km northwest of Quebec City. Clair lake occupies approximately 16% of the basin area. The forest is predominately deciduous (sugar maple associated with yellow birch and American beech) with a small coniferous component (balsam fir and red spruce). Symptoms of sugar maple decline were observed in the forest since the early 1980's. Soils in the watershed are sandy loam overtop of tills formed by underlying gneiss and granite bedrock. The streamflow hydrograph is snowmelt dominated.
